ARCH was created to answer a gap in the social care segment: there were care homes for adults, adults with mental health issues, but none for offenders with mental health issues.
Therefore, we decided to open a small care home that caters to their needs, and at the same time, this enabled the NHS to manoeuvre and move patients out to accommodate new patients.
Frances has over 30 years’ experience working in Forensic Psychiatry with over 22 years managing Amber Residential Care Homes Ltd.
Frances founded ARCH in January 2000, making it a well-established company. Her background is in mental health and she trained as an RMN in the late 80s. She advanced in her studies at the University of Leicester and gained her Master’s in Criminal Justice Studies.
Her work experience includes the prison service, special hospitals, and secure and medium secure units (NHS).
She left the NHS in 2000 and started admitting offenders with mental health issues into her newly started 3-bedroomed home and soon after expanded owning and running 5 separate units in Oxfordshire.
Our main focus is adult offenders with mental health issues, but we also cater for individuals with a mild learning disability, but mental health would be their primary diagnosis.
We have 8 full-time support workers and an RMN.
